Summary
Palos Verdes Estates is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, overlooking the Pacific Ocean and filled with nature. There are a limited number of entrances to the city, making it one of the safest in the state as well. Over 25% of Palos Verdes Estates is reserved as permanent park land, allowing the city to maintain much of its natural beauty. It’s characterized by its four major neighborhoods: Valmonte, Malaga Cove, Montemalaga, and Lunada bay. Each of these unique spots provides distinctive characteristics that when combined, make Palos Verdes Estates so special.
Schools
The Palos Verdes Unified School District (PVPUSD) produces some of the highest test scores in the state. Palos Verdes High School, Palos Verdes Intermediate School, and a number of elementary schools are within the city's boundaries. While home address determines what elementary and middle school students attend, high school enrollment is open to the whole Peninsula, and students in the PVPUSD are able to make their own decision on where they’d like to attend.
Shopping and Entertainment
Palos Verdes Estates features two commercial shopping plazas within its city limits: Malaga Cove Plaza and Lunada Bay Plaza. King Neptune’s Fountain is a PVE landmark located in the heart of Malaga Cove Plaza, and is a popular location for professional photos. Rounding out this plaza are restaurants, shops, a bank, and a number of real estate offices. Lunada Bay Plaza is a bit bigger, and includes restaurants, shops, hair salons, a hardware store, gas station, small offices, and more. It’s also conveniently located near both Palos Verdes High School and Palos Verdes Intermediate School, giving parents something to do while waiting to pick up their kids from school.
Parks and Recreation
The Palos Verdes Beach and Athletic Club has one of the most coveted membership lists on the Peninsula. It’s no wonder - located just off the cliffs and featuring swimming pools, a gym, rec center, and bbq stations, it’s the perfect place to relax by yourself or with friends and family. The Palos Verdes Golf Club and Palos Verdes Tennis Club are popular locations for their respective sports to be played, and the golf club offers significant discounts to Palos Verdes residents. There are a number of youth sports leagues located in the city as well, with Little League baseball being the most populated. Various hiking trails are scattered throughout the city that many residents enjoy exploring.
